Greetings Families,
With six weeks remaining of school, I wanted to provide you with some updates: 1) CPS has provided Q4 guidance for grading: 4th Quarter Grade Entry: Elementary school grading practices will be focused on student progress and learning. To measure learning and provide feedback for continued growth, teachers will grade assignments on a regular basis and enter them into the Gradebook using a traditional A–F scale. When assigning grades, teachers will take into consideration the challenges of remote learning and impact of COVID-19 on an individual basis. ● If a student’s fourth quarter term grade is the same or higher than their third quarter term grade, teachers should post the fourth quarter letter term grade. ● If a student's grade drops below their third quarter term grade, but they demonstrate regular engagement in remote learning, as well as reasonable mastery of assigned work as evidenced by earning a D or higher, teachers should override the student’s term grade and enter a Pass (P). ● If a student does not demonstrate regular engagement in remote learning or any evidence of mastery of assigned work, as evidenced by earning an F, teachers should override the student’s term grade and enter an Incomplete (/). **** Please note: I am still regarding the General Rubric that I have posted previously to help guide me in my grading. 2) The annual ABC countdown began today! Students are encouraged to participate at home and email pictures to teachers or to administration. Even though we are together, we can still maintain our traditions that unite us! Please view the post from yesterday, or my blog for the list of daily spirit activities. 3) Register for a Chicago Public library card online! I have been reading, and enjoying e-books and audio books lately. Here is the link to register yourself or your child for a library card. Access tons of free ebooks, magazines, audiobooks, and other online resources: https://www.chipublib.org/news/get-a-library-card-online/ Thank you for your time, and be sure to email me with any questions or concerns! Be well, Ms. Erickson Good afternoon families,
Today we had 20 students in our Google Meet. It was wonderful to“see” so many of my students. We will being student “clubs” this week. Thank you to Jordan for coming up with the idea of student led clubs. Students were surveyed about topics that interest them. The sign-up process started yesterday. I know we are all missing our extra curricularactivities, and I hope this will help fill the void! CPS has announced the 4th quarter grading information. You can find details here in this video. https://youtu.be/9ZmeRdCSQwk I am looking forward to Warrior Wednesday tomorrow. Best, Ms. Erickson |
