Mandatory Reopening Meetings
Meeting for hybrid learning families: Tuesday 1/26 2:00pm Meeting for virtual learning families: Tuesday 1/26 3:00pm The link will be provided before the meeting. Checking Parent Portal (linked in my resources tab) is the best way to get real time updates of your student's grades. The quarter ends Thursday 2/4. The last day for late work submission will be Tuesday 2/2. Below you will find information that includes important announcements and brief overviews of the week ahead.
Important Dates: Week of Jan. 25th Meeting for hybrid learning families: Tuesday 1/26 2:00pm Meeting for virtual learning families: Tuesday 1/26 3:00pm Thursday, Feb. 4th Quarter Ends Thursday, Feb. 11th LSC Meeting Monday, Feb. 15th President's Day (Non-Attendance) Tuesday, Feb. 16th PTO Meeting Social Studies 5th This week students will analyze the causes of the American Revolution. SS.IS.5.3-5. Develop claims using evidence from multiple sources to answer essential questions. SS.IS.6.3-5. Construct and critique arguments and explanations using reasoning, examples, and details from multiple sources. Social Studies 6th This week students will work on their outlines for the Chicago Metro History Fair. Students will be revising their thesis statement and continuing their research. SS.IS.2.6-8. Ask essential and focusing questions that will lead to independent research. SS.IS.5.6-8.MC. Develop claims and counterclaims while pointing out the strengths and limitations of both.SS.IS.6.6-8.MC. Present arguments and explanations that would appeal to audiences and venues outside the classroom using a variety of media. Science 315 Students will learn about immunity and vaccines. Undertake a design project, engaging in the design cycle, to construct and/or implement a solution that meets specific design criteria and constraints. SS.IS.5.3-5. Develop claims using evidence from multiple sources to answer essential questions. SS.IS.6.3-5. Construct and critique arguments and explanations using reasoning, examples, and details from multiple sources. Social Studies 5th This week students will complete their study of the 13 colonies. Students will take a quiz on the geography of the colonies, and general questions reviewing what we have learned. They will be open notes quizzes. SS.IS.5.3-5. Develop claims using evidence from multiple sources to answer essential questions. SS.IS.6.3-5. Construct and critique arguments and explanations using reasoning, examples, and details from multiple sources. Social Studies 6th This week students continue the research process for the Chicago Metro History Fair. We will be creating a bibliography and visiting online archives. SS.IS.2.6-8. Ask essential and focusing questions that will lead to independent research. SS.IS.5.6-8.MC. Develop claims and counterclaims while pointing out the strengths and limitations of both.SS.IS.6.6-8.MC. Present arguments and explanations that would appeal to audiences and venues outside the classroom using a variety of media. Science 315 Students will create a science experiment to show the steps of the scientific process.
